Field Technician / Parts Puller

General Description:

The Field Technician is responsible for pulling all orders for parts located on a vehicle in the yard.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Dismantle vehicles within the suggested time constraints in a safety conscious manner
  • Label and tag parts for orders
  • Maneuver heavy objects
  • Check the quality and product type of the parts
  • Must own and maintain all the tools necessary
  • Subject to intense physical labor and repetitive lifting
  • Must be able to work outside in various types of weather.
  • Works with hydraulic oils, motor oils, antifreeze, and diesel fuels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

Education: High School Graduate preferred.

Experience: Must have hands-on automotive repair experience. Must have a basic understanding of the function of each part of a vehicle. Must use hand tools, air tools, and torches. Must be able to lift at least 75lbs.

Tools: Essential to have a complete set of standard and metric, both hand tools and impact grade sockets. Must have at least one air impact wrench and a second back up is highly recommended. Should have tools from a brand that offers lifetime warranty: Craftsman, Matco, Mac, Snap-On, etc.

Licenses: Certified in refrigerant evacuation. Fork lift certification. Training and certification available.

Warehouse Worker

General Description:

Support and assist the Warehouse Manager and help in various other aspects of company operations as directed.

The stocking of dismantled parts and returned parts will be divided up equitably between the utility support personnel and the warehouse manager. Follow the stocking schedule unless instructed otherwise by management.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect parts for quality control
  • Stock all parts from processed vehicles
  • Stock all cores and nonferrous scrap
  • Stock warehouse, production and shipping supplies
  • Clean engines, transmissions, and other parts as assigned
  • Stamp and bottle mark sold parts. Apply heat tabs to engine blocks and each cylinder head
  • Determine weight of parts to be shipped by outside freight companies
  • Insure all parts to be crated and shipped by outside freight companies are photographed prior to crating
  • Construct crating as require
  • Inspect, clean and box according to UPS guidelines small parts that are to be shipped UPS
  • Monitor warehouse, shipping, and production supplies
  • Maintain storage area available space, pallets, etc
  • Pull parts from stock as listed on the production work order system when assigned
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Warehouse Manager Inventory Manager or General Manager

Qualification Required:

Education: High School Graduate preferred.

Experience: Prior experience as a warehouse worker is a plus.

Delivery Driver

General Description:

Pick up and deliver parts to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Checks with the parts manager, inventory control administrator, parts counter people, or shipping and receiving clerk before leaving to coordinate any last minute pick-ups or deliveries
  • Verifies that invoice matches purchase order to each pick-up
  • Checks payments received with the invoices for each delivery
  • Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. Requests recipient’s signature on each delivery entry
  • Unloads truck each evening, and turns in all paperwork and undelivered/returned parts
  • Handles basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed
  • Advises parts manager if delivery trucks need major repairs and maintenance

Qualifications Required:

Education: High School Graduate preferred.

Experience: Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving experience and a clean driving record.

Automotive Parts Salesperson

General Description:

Sells recycled and aftermarket automotive parts over the phone and to walk-in customers.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Calls on existing customers, inactive accounts, and cold calling
  • Addresses and resolves customer issues, referring to management when appropriate
  • Utilizes outstanding selling skills to close and overcome any objections & up-selling
  • Fields inbound phone calls and completes customer orders as necessary

Positions may be filled in Stafford, Fredericksburg or Cheasapeake, VA.

Qualifications Required:

Education: High School Graduate preferred.

Experience: Highly recommended. Two (2) to Four(4) years sales experience a must. Self-motivated and fast paced individual with serious work ethic. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Good organizational and communication skills. Professional phone skills/Good decision maker. Knowledge of automotive parts.

Dismantler

General Description:

Dismantles vehicles inside shop. Performs complete dismantle procedure as defined by management including vehicle hulk and part inspection for quality control and removal of pollutants and hazardous material according to environmental requirements. Maintains a clean and safe work area.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Quality control and part inspection
  • Remove and properly dispose of fluids including oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, power brake fluid, gasoline, diesel, and anti-freeze
  • Evacuate refrigerant from vehicle air conditioning systems
  • Remove mercury switches from vehicle equipped with these devices
  • Removal and proper handling of battery and catalytic converter
  • Actual dismantling of the vehicle including removal of all inventoried parts listed on the dismantling report, and quality inspection of inventoried parts remaining on vehicle hulk
  • Removal of core parts that are not inventoried
  • Tagging and identifying parts with stock numbers
  • Resolving part interchange numbers on dismantler report
  • Complete one vehicle before starting another
  • Keep work area clean and safe
    • Maintain tools and equipment and regularly inspect for problems
    • Put away parts after each vehicle
    • Take out cores after each vehicle
    • Pick up debris from previous vehicle and put in appropriate dumpsters
  • Record keeping including dismantling reports and incentive pay records
  • Turn in dismantling reports after each vehicle
  • Dismantler may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week

The dismantling job is performed inside a shop. Dismantler should keep appropriate attire on hand, including boots and coats.

Qualifications Required:

Education: High School Graduate preferred. Training in any automotive program is a benefit.

Experience: Highly recommended. Service garage experience. Removal and reinstall of engines, Transmissions and major drive train is highly valuable. Collision repair experience and knowledge of types of damage that can or cannot be repaired is highly valuable. Use of refrigerant evacuators, training on forklift, use of torch and cutting sawzalls.
